1. I know you have worked on the book Thomas Alsop with Mr. Miskiewicz.
I saw your video on how to paint your pages of Thomas Alsop in black ink wash, and was wondering how you turn it into colors in Photoshop afterwards.
3. Would you recommend painting the actual colors with paints, or painting it all over with black paints and turning it into colors later?
Palle Schmidt says
The method I worked out on Thomas Alsop has taken me 15 years to get to, so I don’t think I would recommend starting there. But for me it’s worked out great to paint in grayscale and add colors in Photoshop after. It is somewhat of an advanced method. I think you would be better off learning to color from the ground up, so to speak, rather than doing it my way. And who knows, maybe you’ll figure out your own way! Trying to copy what others do is a great learning method, but ultimately you have to find out what works for you.
